De Wet & Samantha

As the doors opened to the quaint little memorial chapel, a bride stands ready at the entrance.
Sadly in the aftermath of losing her Dad, for Samantha, the walk down the aisle was a daunting thought and a moment she envisioned very different from the reality she found herself in.

Yet dreamlike in white, she enters, and not a soul is spared a tear down the cheek as the backlit beauty rushes to her soul mate, both desperately trying to control their emotions. As De Wet embraces his bride, I have to look away and take a breath else I won’t be able to see through my view finder and I am reminded how it’s in moments like these that you grasp how wonderfully amazing love is, and at the same time, how fragile life can be.

De Wet, a Petty Officer in the South African Navy, proposed to Samantha, a marketing & social media manager at the Kelvin Grove Country Club, in such spectacular fashion that it was published on “How He Asked” a popular online proposal site. (You can read more about it here)

Not only are these two hilariously funny, energetic and all-round fabulous people but Samantha left her best party trick for last. In what can only be described as a “take off your wedding dress so you can dance” move, Samantha’s pretty princess gown was cleverly designed to transform into a sexy white mini dress, perfect for opening the dancefloor.

De Wet on one of his favourite moments of the day:

“Just before we walked out of the Chapel to greet our guests, I looked at her and knew that from that moment it was going to be just the two of us and I was going to take care of her. It was a proud moment.”

Samantha on Wedding Planning:

“Don’t sweat the small stuff, don’t follow trends, just make sure that everything about the wedding reflects your style and taste. Make sure it’s all of your favourite things and enjoy the day for what it is – the official start of a lifelong sleepover with your best friend. Your family and friends are there to celebrate this with you.”
